Lock In Combat Zone Service with Your LES Today

Discuss on Reddit

Prove you were there—use your pay to lock it in. Today, log in to DFAS myPay (or pull old paper) and download LES for deployment months; look for Hostile Fire/Imminent Danger Pay (HFP/IDP) or Combat Zone Tax Exclusion (CZTE). Upload those LES to your pending claim on VA.gov as evidence, with clear filenames listing location and dates. This quickly verifies in-theater service, strengthens presumptives and stressor concessions when STRs are thin, and can move the rater from “maybe” to “verified.”

About VA Claim Helper

VA Claim Helper is led by a U.S. Navy submariner (ET2/SS, USS Pittsburgh 1995–2005) translating VA law into plain-English claim strategy so veterans can document service connection, prep for C&P exams, and win ratings without guesswork.

We publish daily VA disability tips, evidence checklists, and field manuals that walk you from Intent to File through appeals. Every guide is battle-tested with the veteran community and refreshed when VA policy shifts so the intel stays mission ready.
